Here is a video clip of a Harvard professor talking about his research on barefoot running and the benefits of running without shoes.
Here are the two pairs of shoes that I'm trying out. Yes I know, they look like the same ol' running shoe. However, the New Balance MT100's were designed with the help from three ultramarathon runners that enjoy minimalist shoes. For a trailrunner, there's not much to these. Less can be better!
I use this pair of Newton's Gravity on the streets. Newton's are designed by runners for runners to mimic the advantages of barefoot running (chi running)The next time you are having pain associated with running consider trying less. I use to have a variety of issues from an extremely tight IT Band to plantar fasciitis. I began running short distances on the treadmill and on the grass at our local park barefoot to improve my form. It has been a little less than a year since I bought into the minimalist approach and have been running pain free every since.
